If you take your workouts seriously then you know the importance of diet, rest and recovery. In addition to ensuring you get an optimal ratio of proteins, carbohydrates and fats, making sure you take in enough vitamins and minerals is just as important. Healthy foods are a great source of vitamins and minerals, but adding vitamins and minerals in the form of a multivitamin can be a good choice. Magnesium, zinc and vitamin B are three important vitamins that commonly cause fatigue, but intensive exercise can lead to nutritional deficiencies in other areas too.

Vitamins

You get many of the vitamins you need every day through your normal diet, provided you try to maintain a healthy lifestyle. If you do strength sports, certain vitamins are extra important. For example, the B Vitamins contribute to a healthy nervous system and energy metabolism. It also contributes to a better processing of proteins. XXL Nutrition has a broad range of separate vitamins, but also a well-balanced multivitamin. Curious about the functions of the most important vitamins for strength training? Then read this blog.

Minerals

Magnesium is one of the most commonly mentioned minerals when it comes to resistance training. Magnesium is naturally found in food sources such as cereals, nuts and cocoa. If you have a normal, healthy diet and don’t exercise much, you likely already consume enough magnesium. However, if you do a lot of resistance training your magnesium requirement can increase enormously, which means that you run the risk of a magnesium deficiency. In addition to magnesium, XXL Nutrition offers a wide range of mineral supplements such as calcium, potassium, zinc and carefully compiled blends of these minerals.

What types of fats are there?

In general, the view prevails that fats are unhealthy. But it is important to realize that not all fats are equal and they even play an essential role in your body. Saturated fats are common in animal products such as meat and dairy but also as an unhealthy form in processed products such as cakes, pastries and snacks. Unsaturated fats are both mono- and polyunsaturated and have the characteristic that they are good for cholesterol levels. These fats are common in products such as fish, seeds and nuts. For a healthy lifestyle, it is important to eat predominantly unsaturated fats with a smaller proportion of saturated fats.

What are examples of food fats?

Fats come in numerous forms, ranging from bad for your health to very important for your body. Unsaturated fats in particular are known for their positive effect, but certain saturated fats can also play a role in a good diet.

Especially products such as salmon, nuts, olive oil, avocado and seeds are known for their good fat profile. Because it can be difficult to eat enough of this every day, you can help your diet with good fats in supplement form. Examples include Omega-3 softgels, MCT oil, Perfect Cooking Spray or Natural Peanut Butter
