What are BCAAs?

Branched Chain Amino Acids, or BCAAs for short, consist of the three essential amino acids: Leucine, Isoleucine and Valine. These are often mixed in a 2:1:1 ratio, but other ratios are also possible. Your body does not produce these essential amino acids on its own, and that is why it is important to get them from your daily diet and/or a dietary supplement. BCAAs can be purchased in powder form, but also in capsules for those who do not like soluble powder. We even sell a pre-mixed BCAA drink, with added caffeine, vitamins and minerals for the perfect sports drink. XXL Nutrition has a broad range of BCAA's with delicious flavours and without sugar!

BCAA effect

As you have been able to read, BCAAs consist of three essential amino acids that your body does not produce on its own. When you do strength training, your body uses amino acids to restore muscles. Amino acids are the building blocks of proteins and you will get most of what you need from your normal diet, provided you maintain a healthy and varied diet. BCAAs contribute to protein synthesis, i.e. the build-up of proteins in muscle cells. Getting enough protein and therefore BCAAs is crucial for your results in the gym. Do you not get enough protein from your diet? Then a supplement with BCAAs is an excellent choice for you!

BCAA powder

BCAAs in powder form are often used during training. Apart from the fact that it is a tasty sports drink, BCAAs provide your body with nutrients so that you can give everything during your workout. We have two variants of BCAA powder: one with a ratio of 2:1:1 and with a ratio of 4:1:1. The difference between the two powders is in the ratio of Leucine compared to Isoleucine and Valine.

BCAA side effects

As far as is known, the use of BCAAs has no side effects or negative effects on your daily life. We always recommend getting as many proteins from a healthy and varied diet as possible before you decide to switch to supplements.
